Hundie Melka

Chief Geologist, Geological Survey Ethiopia

Mr. Hundie Melka was born on 25th September 1962. He was assigned to his current position, Chief Geologist of the Geological Survey of Ethiopia in January 2011. Mr. Hundie Melka has joined the Geological Survey of Ethiopia in 1984 as a Junior Geologist after obtaining B.Sc Degree in Geology from Addis Ababa University and got his MSc from Middle East Technical University Ankara, Turkey in 1990. He has acquired experience in mineral exploration while working in various mineral exploration projects implemented by the Geological Survey of Ethiopia from junior geologist level up to project coordinator position. He has also worked for a private mineral exploration company.
In addition to his experience in mineral exploration in the geological survey and private mineral exploration company, Mr. Hundie Melka Yadete has acquired wide experience in the regulatory aspects of the mineral industry. He has worked in the Ministry of Mines; Mineral licensing and Administration Directorate and Planning & Programming Directorate as senior geologist. He has also led Ethiopian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative as Head of the Ethiopian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative Secretariat from March 2009 to February 2011 before his current assignment as a Chief Geologist of the Geological Survey of Ethiopia.
