Dr Marit Y Kitaw

Dr. Marit Kitaw is currently Economic Affairs Officer at the Natural Resources Management section aof UNECA’s Division of Technology, Climate Change and Natural Resources Managemewnt. She was previously at the African Minerals Development Center (AMDC), a center dedicated to the implementation of the Africa Mining Vision (AMV), as one of its founding members.  From 2015 to 2017, Marit was Techincal Advisor / Program Manager of the Extractive Industries for Sustainable Development program at UNDP Mozambique where she actively supported the elaboration of an AMV aligned minerals policy and strategy and the formulation of a local content policy. Prior to that, Marit worked in COMESA, at the Center for Development Consultancy, at the African Development Bank, and at the Institute of World Affairs in Washington DC.  She has written a number of papers and articles pertaining to the Extractive Industries and sustainable development. Marit Kitaw received her Ph.D in Economics from the University of Nice/ Sophia-Antipolis in France. She hails from Ethiopia and is fluent in English, French, Amharic and conversant in Portuguese.
