Ezana Mining Development PLC (EMD), a subsidiary company of EFFORT located in Mekelle town, was established in 1994 G.C and operates in the mining sector of the country. The main objective of EMD is to conduct mineral exploration works and to consequently develop economically viable mineral resources by its own and in joint venture with capable and reliable foreign partners. EMD has developed Meli gold deposit located in Asgede Tsimbila woreda, north western zone of Tigray National Regional state and is extracting gold using a CIL gold processing plant. EMD has established a laboratory, Ezana Analytical Laboratory (EAL), giving mainly geochemical services, in 1995 G.
